MySources project!

this project no longer exists


hi folks!!

ive had another monthly burst of inspiration to do some programming, and have found myself getting a little frustrated at sites that are significantly bloated, browser / privacy unfriendly or lock their content behind a wall

with that in mind, ive endeavoured to start up a cool little project to aim to make that problem easier to deal with when it comes to doing what the web was originally intended for: sharing free information!!

i call it MySources, and i currently host it here, though i have plans to put everything in a git repository soon that i'll be self hosting and then letting folks create merge requests!!

with that in mind, im hoping that MySources could become a collaborative effort from a bunch of folks towards creating a compilation of resources for technical stuff that can be read by less-techy people; you can read more about my (everchanging) values here if you're interested!

anyway, with that in mind, it'd be cool if any folks have an itch for writing techy stuff, like wikis, and have an interest in either self hosting their own copy of articles or sharing stuff amongst other websurfers!!!

it'd also be nice to have some feedback; do you think this is a good idea? any suggestions would be nice!!

yo this is a great idea!!! my suggestion would be the ability to switch to a more readable font like OpenDyslexic (readability/accessibility i'd say is part of your goal). i would also suggest that everything be sorted into their own topics, but seeing as currently there's 2 articles that are part of the same guide, that's for the future

i've had this in the works - sorry for the super late response, teatime!
i've definitely taken the suggestions on board, and i'm contemplating on
what the best approach to take towards accessibility is - so i'll
pop by this thread in another month or so with an update.

that being said, whilst the page
is still a bit barebones (and has the hangovers of advertising itself
as being the work of just me - updating that now!),
i'd be very happy to share some resources if folks have anything they
think should be shared with other folks. word-of-mouth is something
i try to live by! if so, pop me an email!

i've since expanded what's on there. no point restricting something
that's designed to help others to just technical articles, is there? :P

hopefully i'll be back sooner than a month, this time...
